Play Paul Awareness

ifcwdjd:

Being Daft Punk fans, most of you probably know who Paul is already, but recent posts have prompted me to write a little something about him for those who don’t know or those who want to know more. As far as I am aware, Thomas doesn’t have any siblings; however, Guy-Man has a younger brother…

This is Paul de Homem-Christo. He was born on October 22, 1976 and is an electronic musician known as Play Paul. He has also collaborated with different artists, mainly Raw Man (Romain Seo) as part of the Buffalo Bunch and We In Music, as well as starting other ventures like Ryskee. His career in music started very early in his life. After finishing school in 1995, he went to university for a little while, but found he had no desire to study and left. Paul worked briefly as a music journalist before joining the Buffalo Bunch in 1997, and they released music on Thomas’ indie label Scratche and Guy-Man’s label Crydamoure. By 1998, he had dedicated himself full-time to making music.

Here is Paul performing “La La Land,” his cover of the Green Velvet song. While he obviously isn’t too great at singing (or dancing apparently, heh heh,) he is a good musician with some sweet tracks, like “Love Song,” “Spaced Out” & “Spaced Out II,” “Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow,” “Ain’t No Ho,” and “All Mine.” He’s also done several remixes and occasionally works the decks as a DJ.

Paul has made it very clear that he and his brother pursue music separately, and that he has no desire to be famous and prefers to remain in Paris. In his career, Paul has mostly stuck to touring around Europe (one of his favorite places to perform outside of France is Germany,) although he loves to travel and has been all over the world.

Personality-wise, Paul is pretty hilarious, often making witty remarks and goofy faces (observe the Phantom of the Paradise shirt - awesome.) He doesn’t seem particularly ambitious, as he has never stuck to one record label or musical style, and prefers to just enjoy life and go with the flow. Interestingly, even though he makes music for a living, Paul claims outside of that he doesn’t listen to music at all, except bands he liked in his youth, like Slayer & Megadeth (yep, he’s a metalhead.) Unlike his brother, Paul is very active in terms of social networking. He has a Facebook page, MySpace page (although who really uses that anymore?) and Twitter account.

So, there’s Paul for ya :)
